Who Do We Have to Thank?

How did so many of the bizarre folk
from beyond the periphery of settled virtue
make it through the checkpoints
and into the citadels of decency and reason?
Whose connivance showed them the way
to the high rooms and fed them license
and gave them beds for dreaming their madness
into the air? Who do we have to thank for that?

I’ve retired after a career teaching law. I divide my time now between Athens, Georgia, in the States and the south coast of Ireland.
