They Move Together

These beasts move together,
Having pledged allegiance
To the herd, and rarely
Is there one that even thinks
To make a sound that might
Mark it as a maverick that
Must be cut and sent away,
Estranged from all that’s
Kept it hale and hearty, and safe.

I’ve retired after a career teaching law. I divide my time now between Athens, Georgia, in the States and the south coast of Ireland.
