1600 Suppurations

Long after midnight,
As they check their mags
And make their rounds,
Do they hear upstairs
And down the hall
The floorboards yield
To the slow footfalls
Presaging another
Royal suppuration –
Another limited-character
Counterpunch
In a life spent,
Or so they say,
Brooding over
Uptown snubs
And sundry other
Provocations?
