Wherever’s Next

We do our best to dress up death
In the finery of noble sacrifice,
Cover it in the Stars and Stripes,
Stand vigil with it through the night
And out to the last of all the nights
Across the head-stoned hills
From Arlington to Flanders
To wherever's next.

I’ve retired after a career teaching law. I divide my time now between Athens, Georgia, in the States and the south coast of Ireland.
