Living Too Fast for Revelation

Athens GA. 2019.
If you sat all day every day
Near the roots of a tree
Exposed in cross-section
On the side of a cut-away hill,
Watching with perfect persistence
To catch the roots
Swelling and ferreting
Ever wider and deeper,
Reaching for sustenance,
You wouldn’t see a thing,
Living as you do at your speed,
Not theirs.

I’ve retired after a career teaching law. I divide my time now between Athens, Georgia, in the States and the south coast of Ireland.
