Unconventional Easter Egg

The kids are flitting here and there
With baskets, having been given
Mission briefs from long-standing doctrine
Worked out in ancient Pentagons.
She, on the other hand, just found a treasure
Greater than any conventional Easter egg,
Hiding under the pile of unfolded clothes
On her bed. Her keys!

I’ve retired after a career teaching law. I divide my time now between Athens, Georgia, in the States and the south coast of Ireland.
